Is it actually possible to sell a used car without misleading or lying out right to the potential buyer? One would hope so, since anyone hoping to buy a used car is looking for an honest and reliable seller. You wouldn’t want to deal with a dishonest used car seller, would you? Right, and so you certainly do not want to be one either. You can make good money off your car, and you can do it without compromising your integrity. All it takes is a little bit of effort, and money. Both of which you will more than earn back when these tips help you to sell your used car.

Be honest with the buyer

There are ways to tell the buyer what they are getting, without coming right out and saying “this car is a lemon”, and without having to lie. It is common for sellers of used cars, to try and mask or hide problems with the car by using such tricks as offering “new upholstery”, when in fact the upholstery had to be replaced because every inch of fabric in the car was burned to ash by a freak mishap with the electrical wiring of the heater.

If you have had the car repaired for reasons such as fire or flood damage, disclose this fact to the buyer, with the service receipts to back up the fact that the car is in good working condition. If you need to, you can price the car slightly higher that you really hope to get for it, and this will give you plenty of room to come down on the asking price, because of any potential problems.

When you are selling your used car

You might consider have the car taken in and serviced, the expense might be high, but you can incorporate at least part of it into the selling price of the vehicle. And, you will have the added benefit of being able to say that the used car has recently been checked out, tuned up and nothing needs to be fixed. Most buyers of used cars will definitely appreciate that.

Giving the interior of the car a complete and thorough cleaning, from the ceiling to the floor, (including under the floor mats) will also make a great and unique selling point. Plus, buyers will be impressed with the appearance and the smell. Nothing turns a used car buyer off faster than a car that stinks because of years of cigarette smoke or of molding food that is lost somewhere under the seats.

The exterior of the car should look its very best as well, a quality washing and waxing are excellent first steps to take. And professional body work is the best way to finish. Trying to patch with bondo or duct tape in not going to work. Having a patching and painting job done on the car by an expert in that specialty is going last, and it will boost the selling price of your used car quite a bit too.

The main thing to be taken in care, when we buy an used car is that, Was it driven 6O miles/day on the freeway or was it driven 2 miles/week to the grocery store on the side streets? This is because the exact kind and frequency of use makes a difference on how long you project the engine to last. --------- Adam New Cars
